Freelands is a private estate and beat located in the village of Wherwell, in the heart of the Test Valley, Hampshire. This two-rod beat has just under half a mile of single bank fishing and sits just below the Wherwell Priory and just upstream from the Fullerton and the Leckford Estates.
Fishing at Freelands is ideal for dry fly and sight fishing and has some wading permitted in its deeper waters. Trout are plentiful and the setting idyllic, peaceful and wild, as here the river meanders through 20 acres of our own private woodland overlooking, in parts, the Chilbolton Cow Common.
Bird-life is abundant on this stretch of water and most days our resident Kingfisher makes an appearance. There is a comfortable fisherman’s hut which provides shelter from the unpredictability of the British weather and provides you with a base for the day.
