Bere Mill (Upper River Test).
Over 1/2 mile of upper River Test wild trout fishing set in the grounds of the historic Mill. Situated on the pristine upper river Test. A generous beat that offers a diverse array of fly water for between 1 and 3 rods. Main river, hatch pools and a carrier stream that form part of the historic mill and water meadow system. The beat is wild, requires wading and is a wild trout beat run on a catch and release basis. Barbless hooks please. The fishing is challenging but wonderfully rewarding. The owners are keen environmentalists. The garden and farmland is managed according to organic principles and the surrounding water meadows are natural pasture. This bodes well for fly life and fly fishing. The gardens are just wonderful with a vast array of trees, shrubs and flowers alongside art and sculpture. A delightful Japanese tea hut acts as a fishing hut. The lake which was formally a trout farm, also offers the opportunity to cast at a rising trout. The beat also holds some specimen grayling that are a challenge in the crystal clear water.
