Fly Fishing Days
WE SPECIALISE in the best chalk stream fly fishing available anywhere in the world. Bespoke days can be arranged for the individual or a group on a number of superb rivers, all within 90 minutes of London. These include the famous river Test, the Itchen, the Dever, and the Hampshire Avon.
Whether you are a beginner, an improver or an accomplished fly fisherman, we have the water and professional guides and instructors to ensure you get the most out of your day.
These chalk streams wind through beautiful country estates and are divided into ‘beats’. Each beat takes a fixed number of rods for the day. Most are for two rods, but some for up to five. This traditional method ensures you have complete privacy on your beat for the duration of your stay. You will rarely bump into another fisherman or anyone else for that matter, allowing one to totally relax and unwind.
Book a day on the river with one of our experienced guides. We will pick you up from your hotel, the airport, or arrange a meet in nearby Stockbridge. Your guide will ensure you have a memorable day with his excellent knowledge of the river, the surrounding natural history and the local area. Learn how to fish effectively at various times of year. He’ll teach you techniques, show you the fish holding lies, the best flies and how to fish them and all being well, make sure you have several fish under your belt at the end of the day!
Alternatively, take an un-guided day with our personal touch. We’ll meet you locally and put you on the riverbank of the particular private estate water you have booked for the day. We will ensure you are familiar with your beat, the fishery rules and the associated etiquette. As well as giving you an update on hatches, flies and techniques before leaving you to your own devices for the day.
Aside from rivers, we have a spring fed, private estate lake in the Test valley to which you will have exclusive access for your day – the crystal clear water is super for 'stalking' trout and the lake is ideal for the tuition of a party (up to six) of varying abilities. It has a fishing lodge and picnic tables.
Whether on a river bank or lake side, we can arrange on site fully catered luncheons or suppers, superb picnic hampers, refreshments or simply recommend you to a super local inn or restaurant. Please see our gallery for an idea of previous fishing days we have enjoyed.
